A TREND IN NEW YORK

“Coffee” seems to have been a trend in NY in recent years.

Mad, Grey Dogs, Gimme, Le Colombe, Abraco, Stamptown, Gorilla, Ninth Street Espresso, Kava, Piccoro and Blue Bottle…  So many good choices compare to a decade ago.

My favorite changes occasionally, but Le Colombe, Ninth Street, Abraco, Piccoro and Blue Bottle have been on my top list so far. (= too many)

THE FIRST STORE

The very first store who purchased our bags was Envoy Of Belfast in Ireland.  Although I have never visited the store yet, I have known that it is an ideal store any designer would die for.   And, I feel so fortunate to have met the buyer, Ruth, from this wonderful store (thanks to my dear friend, Julia!) and seeing our bags treated with such special care and attention.

Our brand is still small, but we have developed relationships with wonderful people from stores and vendors which I am extremely happy with.   After all, our ultimate goal is to gain quality over quantity in every aspect of our brand including a relationship with people.

SPRING IN NY

After long long cold winter, we finally started to feel spring.

INSPIRATION OF THE WEEK

I was inspired by two well known American artists this week: Edward Hopper and Richard Scarry.  Although they have drawn different kind of works, each had a same kind of strong impact when I saw their works.  The colors, objects, proportion, the way of expression, total balance and so on…  It is hard to explain what it is specifically, but they just totally got me.  I like everything about their works, and I could staring at them without getting bored (or they caught me into them) and exploring my imagination by looking at details for a long time as if I am present and hearing the sounds at the place they drew.

PRAYING FOR JAPAN

Japan has been deeply in my mind since the terrific earthquake hit its northern part of mainland on March 11th.  Ever since then, I have thought of commenting about it on our blog like everyone else does.  But, I couldn't because the event was so colossal that I had not been able to find the right words.  It has just been overwhelming to me.   So instead, I am posting an e-mail I received two days ago from one of my friends.

Praying for Japan.

Dear friends,

I apologize for the mass mail.
Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. It really helps.
Things are still chaotic here, but everyone is trying their best to sort things out.

A few days ago, the last of our missing family members in Kesennuma were located. Now all 32 of them have been located. Some are in better shape than others, but are all alive. But the good news turned quickly to tales of horrifying ordeal they all went through. They all lost someone they cared about – their friends, boyfriends and girlfriends, classmates, neighbors, coworkers... right in front of them....

The land is still shaking daily.
We all realize the damage is much greater than what we can imagine right now.
But I am hopeful that what had united this country many times before is still here. People are working together, rebuilding together, and thinking for the future together.

I am glad that I have been here through this mess.
And I am compelled to clean this up with everyone.

Please continue to pray for those who are suffering, for those lost, and for those who left everything behind to help those people in Tohoku.

I will keep you all posted.
Thank you again for keeping me in your thoughts.

FALL PRESENTATION

We do not have a showroom yet as we are still a small brand just started out from New York last year.   But, we are proud to present our fall'11 collection out of a vintage suitcase made by Samsonite, the American luggage company we respect.   Everything about us is in progress, and we really enjoy every step and try to make the best out of it.  Stay tuned everyone.

FALL'11 IN BLACK

We finally received the samples of Fall'11 models in black canvas.   Would be a great addition to our colorful vintage blanket collection.   Available in other solid colors.

We have started the sales of Fall'11 collection during New York's market week and are going to be Tokyo this week.   Hoping to receive good responses from our buyers.
